Cheriton Road Sports Ground Trust (CRSGT) was formally created in 2010 with a mission to oversee the build, operation and future expansion of what later was named the Three Hills Sports Park. We aim to provide accessible sporting opportunities for all in Kent.
The initial build consisted of two artificial hockey pitches with a practice area, netball courts, a large Sports Hall and a 2 storey building containing changing rooms, a bar, kitchen, gymnasium and meeting rooms.
The site also comprises of two grass cricket pitches. The site was later expanded in partnership with Shepway District Council and the Football Foundation to construct and operate a 3G Artificial Football pitch to the West of the original site.
Recently Planning Permission and funding has been agreed to allow construction of an Athletics Track and facilities on the North side of the site – this will also be overseen by CRSGT.
The Trust is a Charitable Organisation and comprises of unpaid Volunteers from Folkestone Optimist Hockey Club and Folkestone Cricket Club has been expanded recently to include Folkestone Running & Athletics Club in the light of the proposed Athletics Track.
The Objects of the Charity are:
- the promotion of community participation in healthy recreation, in particular by the provision of facilities for the playing of cricket, hockey, netball, athletics, football and basketball.
- to promote, for the benefit of the inhabitants of Folkestone and the surrounding area, the provision of facilities for recreation or other leisure time occupation of individuals who have need of such facilities by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disablement, financial hardship or social and economic circumstances or for the public at large in the interests of social welfare and with the object of improving the condition of life of the said inhabitants.
CRSGT are the overarching charity that controls Three Hills Sports Park.
Three Hills Sports Park is currently home to around 16 local sports clubs covering around 65 teams, as well as being a centre for community and charity use.
They host activities for a range of local groups including Shepway Sports Trust (a local sports charity), MIND, schools, health groups and community organisations and is a hub for the local community.
They aim to provide accessible sporting opportunities for all in Kent.
