Due to the weather the project has currently paused and will resume in the New Year

The athletics track is rapidly taking shape, as you may have seen the topcoat spray has started to go on. Very exciting!

The Centre Manager of the Three Hills Sports Park is overseeing the building of the track. “The macadam surface is already down. Next we’ll have 10mm of rubber layered on top before the final covering is sprayed on. The lines will be put on after that. It’s weather dependent, as with most building projects, but we can’t spray if it’s windy. There will also be fencing around the area but public access around the Sports Park is still possible. The fencing ensures areas can be kept clean, secure and ready for athletes to use.

“You will see there’s space on the track for other athletic disciplines. We’ve got a hammer cage where we can train with hammer and discus etc. There’s a long jump and triple jump area which will have sand pits. And there are also professional throwing circles which are being put in place for shot-put. The inner area of the track needs to be prepared for the throwing disciplines, and we’re aiming for them to be ready for the athletics summer season 2023.”
